Keeping Ourselves Safe

Over the past few weeks, we have been doing the Keeping Ourselves Safe Programme. This has been our health topic. This programme was taught with the help of our local Police Education Officer, Constable Rochelle Gordon. We have learnt many different things and found this to be a very important programme to do at school.

Courtney wrote about some of the things she has been learning about over the past few weeks.

In Keeping Ourselves Safe we learned about the different types of abuse. These included Sexual abuse, Emotional abuse, Family harm, Neglect, Physical abuse and Cyber abuse. Here are a couple of examples of abuse: Neglect is you have the access to it but you won’t give it to someone like you child.  Physical abuse is being physically hurt by someone. Emotional abuse is something someone says to someone that might hurt them on the inside.

The Middle Room also learned about tricks, bribes, and secrets.

Bribe – to tempt someone to do something by offering them money or treats.
Secret – something that is not to be told or shown to other people.

Trick – to do something cunning to fool another person.
