Algebra - Maths:  term four
We are learning about Algebra in maths at the moment.  Today we looked at patterns and how to work out what object comes next in a pattern and later on in a pattern without actually having to make the pattern.  We used the New World minis to help us with patterns.

Here are some photos of us learning about Algebra patterns:

Everyone is eager to learn about patterns!

Having a look at the pattern Miss Ward has made.

Everyone is eager to answer the questions about the mini's patterns!

So many minis to make patterns with!

A pattern we started.  We worked out what would be in the pattern at certain numbers like 10, 14, 20, 52.

Courtney placing the next object in the pattern.

Nic placing the next object in the pattern.

Cooper working out what comes next in our pattern!

Savannah and Bree working in buddies to do their Algebra work.

Courtney thinking hard about the answer!

Maddie and Georgia working together on their pattern work.

Iara and Esther having a discussion about what they think the answer might be.

Julienne and George working together.

Maths (Numeracy) - term three
We just love doing maths in the Middle Room!  At the moment we are learning about Multiplication and Division.  There are four maths groups in our class and Miss Ward takes two and Miss Chapman takes two.  We use materials with the maths strategies we learn about as this helps us for a start to understand new things.  Then we have to work out problems using the new strategy we have been taught, in our heads.  This is called imaging.

Here are some photos of us hard at work in maths:

The Totallies working with Miss Ward using materials to help them share equally.

More equal sharing!

Bree recording her working out on the iPad.

Plusies getting their work done!

 The Subbies working hard.

Taylor recording her answer on Notability on the iPad.  This shows up on the Apple TV.

Numeracy - Term Two 2015
For maths at the moment we are doing addition and subtraction.  There are four groups and Miss Ward takes two while Miss Chapman takes two.

Check out the group below using devices to do their follow-up work.  They are reading the instructions off the iPad where the work has been dropped into their google drives (using Hapara). They then complete the work in their maths books.  Gosh we are getting fancy with integrating technology in the middle room!

Taylor completing her work in her book that is on the iPad in her google drive.

Bree getting her work completed.

Esther finishing her work from her worksheet.  Her next step is to do the work that is in her google drive, using a device to see it and completing it in her book.

Our TV!
Miss Ward and Miss Chapman have started to use the TV in our class to teach lessons to groups through.  They plan their lessons on their iPads on an app called Notability.  This replaces using modelling books.  Then they mirror their iPads through the Apple TV and the lesson comes up on the TV for the group to see.  This is one way the TVs are being used in classrooms, it is very cool!  The children in the groups also use the iPad to write answers on or brainstorm ideas,  just like they use to do in a modelling book.

Check out the photos below of Miss Ward teaching one of her numeracy groups through it:

The Addies maths group using materials with their maths lesson on the TV.

Cooper and George using number tiles to help with their maths lesson today.  The lesson was completed through the TV.

Here is what part of the lesson looked like.  The app used to make lessons is called Notability.  In this app you can import photos and annotate over top of photos, it is very cool!

Miss Ward explaining maths to George and Cooper.  George is waiting patiently to answer a question.
