Thursday 14th April

We had a very busy day on Thursday. In the morning, we had Rachel come and teach us Mandarin. We were learning many things including numbers up to 10 and days of the week. Our favourite activity was a game we played outside where someone was 'in' and had to tag the rest of the class who were connected in a line. It was a great game for teamwork!
We have also been doing some tasks and activities around ANZAC day this week. We made a wreath made from our handprints and added poppies. We also were lucky enough to have Hamish McCallum come in and talk to us about ANZAC day and New Zealand's involvement in World War 1. We then created a field of remembrance which included soldiers that went to World War 1 from the Waiwera South district and across New Zealand.

Oral Language Programme

We have been loving our Oral Langauge Programme this term. We have had several topics including book reviews, famous person and personal choice. Everyone has put a lot of effort in and are really improving at speaking in front of an audience.

Check out some photos of us doing our Oral Language Programme!

Our Classroom

We are very lucky in the Middle Room to have received two new tables to go in our Innovative Learning Environment.
These tables have provided us with plenty of places to work around the classroom and we have already put them to great use!
Thank you very much to Parents Plus for providing us with these awesome tables. We love them!

Tuesday 5th April

Last Wednesday we had our Sports Activator Greer come to school to continue to teach us some football skills.
We were learning how to dribble the ball. We found it is much easier to do this by using the side of our feet instead of our toes!
We started by playing a game of rob the nest where we had to dribble the balls back to our hoops and try to steal the soccer balls from the other teams. It was a lot of fun!
We also did a couple of drills called 4 goals and king of the field which helped us improve our dribbling, goal scoring and fitness. These games also helped us with our defending- we learnt that having a good defense is key to winning games.
We finished our session with practicing kicking goals which proved to be quite a challenge.
These skills will be super helpful especially for those heading to the Football tournament in a couple of weeks.

iTrailers
Miss Ward has got us making iTrailers about our school and all the fantastic things we do in it. iTrailers are such a cool way of advertising and showing things. We love using the iTrailer app and we are very lucky that we have seven iPads we can use in our classroom to create them!

Check out some photos of us below making our iTrailers. Keep an eye on our blog and school Facebook page for our finished iTrailers!
