Class Treaty

This week we read a story called “The Treehouse Treaty’. We decided to come up with our own class treaty. The class treaty will be the basis of what our class culture is like. Together we brainstormed a list of terms that we all agreed on. We also included our school values into these rules. We then signed our names as a way of signing the treaty.

Technology

Over the past couple of weeks, the Middle Room have been very busy with our technology. We were given a brief that related to our inquiry topic of “Watch us Grow”. The brief was to design and make something that helps things grow. To be successful we had to design something that:

  • Can be used in the garden
  • Helps things to grow
  • Is our own design
  • Doesn’t cost a lot to make
  • Works properly
  • Is interesting
  • Can work independently on this
  • Doesn’t take a lot of time to complete

We have been really engaged in our work and have been working very hard to get these completed. Have a look at some photos of us busy creating our designs. We can’t wait to show everyone our finished projects!

Middle Room Camp

Last Wednesday-Friday the Middle Room went on their camp to Waihola and Dunedin. We all had such a fantastic time. We had a jam-packed three days which saw us doing many activities including Leap Trampoline Park, Ten Pin Bowling, Swimming, Kayaking, Art Gallery, Flying fox and Sinclair Wetlands. Thanks to our parent assistants,  Brony, Peter, Brendon and Mark, who came along to help Miss Chapman and Miss Ward. It was much appreciated. Here are a selection of photos of our enjoyable time at camp!

Book Fair

It has been a couple of exciting weeks here at school with the Book Fair on. Everyone has loved looking through and searching for books that appeal to their interests. There has been a great buzz around and the books are flying out the door. It is great to see the children with their heads in books throughout the day, even at lunchtime! Yesterday we had a dress up day where the theme was Kiwiana. There were lots of All Blacks, bushmen and Miss Taylor even came as a cow! The Book Fair ends this Friday so make sure you get in to check it out.

The fabulous Book Fair!

Such a range of books!

Cricket

Yesterday afternoon we had a visit from Shaun from Otago Cricket who came to teach us some cricket skills. We learned lots of new skills involving throwing and catching. Some of us were learning the technique of how to bowl correctly. You need to have a straight arm, your fingers are in bunny ears when you hold the ball and you have to "pull the chain" with your non-bowling hand to get the motion. At the end we played a game of 3-bat cricket which was very fast and exciting. We have another cricket session next week which we are all looking forward to.
