Fire Brigade Visit
Yesterday we were lucky enough to get a visit from Maurice, John, Darrell and Noodle from the Waiwera South Fire Brigade. It was very interesting to see what appliances were on and inside the truck. We got to sit in the fire engine and also have a go at using the fire hose. Darell then got dressed up in the Breathing Apparatus and showed us how it works and why it is an essential piece of equipment. The fireman finished by answering some of our questions and talked to us about what to do if we are ever in a fire. Thank you very much to the men from the Waiwera South Fire Brigade for coming along. We really appreciated it.

Fire Safety Visitors!
Fire Truck Visit with Craig! on PhotoPeach
Following on from our lessons on fire safety, we had Aaron a fireman from Dunedin and Craig a local fireman (and Dad!) come and visit our school. We all had a lesson with Aaron about the importance of knowing what to do when there is a fire and how to prevent them and then we visited Craig outside with the local fire truck. He explained what lots of the things on the fire truck do and then we got to go through the back of it, from one side to the other. After that Craig let us have a go at using the fire hose...we loved this!
There could be a few budding fire fighters in the Middle Room!
