Morning Programme

Our Oral Language programme has started again this term. Morning Programme helps us improve our skills of speaking in front of people. We are all excited for the new topics this term and have already started preparing for weeks ahead. We have been practising speaking clearly and confidently and presenting our talk in a variety of ways. Everyone is all constantly improving. Some of the topics this term include Then and Now, Olympics, Recipes and Jokes and Pranks. Check out some photos of us presenting our morning programme from the first week.

There is also a copy of the schedule for this term down below. Underneath the timetable is an explanation of the different topics if you are unsure.

Oral Language Programme

One of the topics for our oral language programme this term is 'Teach Me'. This is where we get to share something that we would like to teach the class. People have chosen to teach dances, how to make paper planes, how to make slime and how to make different types of foods. Last week Savannah taught us how to make chocolate brownie and she even brought some along for us to sample! We all agreed it was super tasty. Today George taught us how to cook liver. It was very interesting as a lot of us had never tried liver before. Most of the class were surprised that it tasted pretty nice. We are very lucky that we get to try all these different treats!

Savannah with her delicious brownie!

George handing out his liver.

Iara and Savannah are unsure what they think of the liver.

We have a range of topics including My Hero, Art Appreciation and Dreams for the future. We have noticed that we have all improved a lot with our confidence with speaking in front of the class and really enjoy getting to show our classmates things that are special to us.

Holiday Writing

My Extreme Holidays.

In the holiday's, I went jet skiing in the Clutha River with Georgia, Dad, his friend Aaron and his kids.
First, dad met up with Aaron and they decided to take us kids jet skiing. We went to the Clutha boat launch and let the jet ski into the water.
Then Aaron started the jet ski and I got on for a ride. We went up the river at 110 knots it was so fast it felt like my eyes were burning in the wind.
Next Aaron's kids, Olivia and Liam went on the jet ski they were doing donuts and did a little jump.
We had a great time.

 My Epic Holidays!!!!!!
In my summer holidays, my friends, my family and I went to the Winton horse show.
Firstly we helped our friend feed their pony. It was our old pony called Jack.
Next we went and watched our friend ride Jack trot around in the competition. They did really well getting first, second and third placings. After that, we went and played all the games at the show. My friends and I bought a spray can with blue foam stuff in it. I then went on the go cart but when I was going around 10 dollars fell out of my pocket. Luckily a man picked it up and gave it to my friend. Then we went on the Octopus it was the best ride of all, I loved it! Finally, we got some food and went to watch some show jumping.
I thought that was a great day.

My Extreme Christmas

On christmas day Mum, my cousins, my Aunty, Nic and I went to the crib at Kaka Point.

First we opened our presents and we all got a surprise when we found bodyboards. We ate fish and chips for lunch, they were delicious.

Then we went swimming in the fresh cold water on a boiling hot day which was really fun. We all got ice creams and walked along the rock pools where we found 6 crabs, 5 were dead and one was alive.

Next we went in our neighbours spa pool and had breathing contests to see who could breath underwater the longest. Nic won 6 times and Maia won once. We all laughed at Josh because he didn't win any games.

After that we got out and had a fantastic game of netball.
Finally We went back to the crib and all relaxed.
I thought this was a brilliant christmas.

    Legendary Holiday!
After Christmas we went up to Cromwell to see our grandma and grandad and to pick up our oldest sister Shannon. She was really excited to see us all.

First we packed up the bus and headed down the curvy road, dad hooked up the JVC with some smooth music. I hooked up my ipod and  played confidant by Demi Lovato, love me like you by Little MIx and then downtown by Macklemore.

Then we stopped for a nice snack, I got two cheese rolls and a CHOCOLATE milk. Mum and dad got a sandwich along with a ice coffee, Emma got a drink called Sparkling ohh.

Next we made it to our grandma and grandad’s.  The following day my family went to Highlands Motorsport Park and had a go at a racing game. I was winning to begin with but Emma came first place after lapping me. After that we went on the go carts. Finally we left our grandma and grandad’s and headed to Lake Wakatipu. We all thought that our holiday was the coolest holiday ever.

My summer Holidays!!!!!!

In the summer Holidays Savannah, Iara, Taylor, Tanya and I Went ice skating and swimming for Savannah's birthday in Gore.
First Savannahs mum came and picked me and Iara up. Then we headed to Gore to go ice skating, swimming and eat food. When we arrived at Gore we went to the swimming pool for about an hour. It was so much fun! I kept jumping and diving to the bottom of the pool, it was epic. After that we went to McDonald's for lunch, I had chicken nuggets, fries and drink.
Next we went ice skating.  Before I could ice skate by myself I had to use a penguin, but it didn’t take long before I got the hang of it. Iara was the best ice skater out of all of us. After that we went to have a snack at pizza hut.
Finally we had to go home we were so tired.
I had an awesome day it was so much fun.

Rugby World Cup Poetry
Today for writing we did All Black poetry.  The poems we did were acrostic, which is when we took their first name and made up a sentence to go with each letter of their name.  We are doing poetry for writing at the moment.

Finding Patterns
We have been learning about patterns. We were creating towers with cubes by following guidelines. Then we had to try and spot a pattern to help us know how many cubes we would need.
Here are a few photos of us working in our groups:

Algebra - Maths
We are learning about Algebra in maths at the moment.  Today we looked at patterns and how to work out what object comes next in a pattern and later on in a pattern without actually having to make the pattern.  We used the New World minis to help us with patterns.

Here are some photos of us learning about Algebra patterns:

Everyone is eager to learn about patterns!

Having a look at the pattern Miss Ward has made.

Everyone is eager to answer the questions about the mini's patterns!

So many minis to make patterns with!

A pattern we started.  We worked out what would be in the pattern at certain numbers like 10, 14, 20, 52.

Courtney placing the next object in the pattern.

Nic placing the next object in the pattern.

Cooper working out what comes next in our pattern!

Savannah and Bree working in buddies to do their Algebra work.

Courtney thinking hard about the answer!

Maddie and Georgia working together on their pattern work.

Iara and Esther having a discussion about what they think the answer might be.
