Headphones!

This week we were lucky enough to get four new sets of headphones to use in the Middle Room. We can use these when we are on Sunshine Classics. This is where we can read stories and have them read back to us. We then answer questions about what we have read. We can also use them when working on Reading Eggs. These headphones are very helpful for our reading programme and have already been very popular!

Plays
Over the last two weeks of term three and the first week of term four, we have been doing plays.  For the first play we did, we worked with our reading group and some reading groups joined together. For our second play, we got to choose our groups with our class reading groups mixing up. Today we presented our second play to the Junior Room children and year 5 and 6 children.

The names of the plays and the children in them were:
That is So Gross! - Nic, Taylor, Cooper, Maddie and Julienne
Cat School - James, Courtney, Georgia, Chloe and Esther
A Biscuit Trail - Tayden, Savannah, George, Iara and Bree

Here are some photos of us presenting our plays:

Innovative Learning Environments
Over the last two Fridays, Miss Ward has set us tasks over a certain amount of time that we have to complete.  This means we can pick and choose when we do the work as long as we are balancing our time, to ensure we are getting all the work done.  The tasks we have had to do are maths, reading and writing work.  All tasks are related to what we are learning about in class.  Some of us have been really good at managing our time to get our work done and some people have had to have Miss Ward reminding them to manage their time.  We love having choice about when we can do our work, it is cool to see people doing different work at the same time.  Miss Ward only lets us choose when we do our work for a certain block of time at the moment, e.g. the first or second morning block.  Miss Ward also pulls out people to work with over this time for reading, maths or writing.  This is part of an Innovative Learning Environment as we are able to choose when we do our work, instead of being told (well most of us can!).

Here are some photos of us choosing when we get our work done:

Morning Programme
Morning programme is a real hit in our class.  Everyone is pretty good at presenting their topic each week and we get a real variety of things being talked about for the topics people have.  We also get topics presented in a variety of ways including book creator on the iPad, google slides, google docs, posters, paper presentations, iPad apps we use at home and iTrailer.  Some people even bring examples of things to school like cupcakes, pets, fudge and we even had a house bus come one day!

Children in our class are starting to get more confident at speaking in front of an audience.

Cooper made a poster on Volcanoes for his Our World topic.

Georgia used book creator to do her presentation about animals in the sea for the Marine Animals topic.

Julienne talked about Honey for her Our World topic.

Tayden presented his Marine Animal topic on starfish.

Iara spoke about how humans are destroying our world.

Iara explaining something on her google presentation that she made.

Savannah chose to tell us about Stacey Peeters for her famous person topic.

Here is Chloe's police lady and slideshow from our reading tasks that had to be completed earlier in the term, from term one.

Morning Programme

Today it is very chilly!  There is lots of snow on the hills and it is cold outside.  We all managed to get to school and are carrying on with our learning in our nice warm classroom.

For morning programme today James showed us how to make a paper plane for how to.
Iara talked about her Dad and how he is her hero.  He is her hero because when she was born she was very weak and had low blood oxygen.  Her Dad talked to her and told her life is worth living and held her leg while the doctors worked on her.  What an awesome hero, you are very lucky to have a Dad like that Iara!

He had a cool book with paper plane formats in it.
