Sports Activator

Today we had another visit from our sports activator Greer. In today’s session, we were focusing on soccer. We started with a few warm up games of flush the toilet and shark tag. We then moved onto some dribbling and passing skills. Finally we finished with a game where we were able to put all of our skills into practice. This is great practice for when we attend the Football Tournament next month.

Sports Activator

Yesterday we had another visit from Greer the Sports Activator. This time we were learning some soccer skills. We began by playing a warm-up game of ‘Donkey Tails’. This was where we had bibs tucked into our shorts as a tail. The aim of the game was to steal each others tails. The person with the most tails at the end of the game was the winner. Next up was a game of “Shark Attack’. Everyone had a ball and we had to dribble it around in the marked our area. There were two people in and they had to try kick as many balls out as they could. This was one of our favourite games. Finally, we played a game similar to ten pin bowling, except we had to kick soccers balls and knock the balls off the cones. It was quite tricky but we all had such a fun time racing each other to be first!

Tuesday 5th April

Last Wednesday we had our Sports Activator Greer come to school to continue to teach us some football skills.
We were learning how to dribble the ball. We found it is much easier to do this by using the side of our feet instead of our toes!
We started by playing a game of rob the nest where we had to dribble the balls back to our hoops and try to steal the soccer balls from the other teams. It was a lot of fun!
We also did a couple of drills called 4 goals and king of the field which helped us improve our dribbling, goal scoring and fitness. These games also helped us with our defending- we learnt that having a good defense is key to winning games.
We finished our session with practicing kicking goals which proved to be quite a challenge.
These skills will be super helpful especially for those heading to the Football tournament in a couple of weeks.
